Gun-friendly hosting for FFL websites
Gun-friendly hosting means a host whose terms allow a firearms business. WordPress.com’s store guidelines prohibit selling firearms, parts, accessories and ammunition, so a gun store can’t run there. Coriolis builds WooCommerce on your own domain and runs every dealer store on WP Engine. Hosting is in every plan, from $169 to $569 a month. It’s month to month, and you own the site.
Why the host matters for a gun store
WooCommerce is open-source, and a licensed FFL can run a gun store on it when it’s self-hosted. The catch is the companies around it. WordPress.com won’t host a gun store, and many payment processors won’t take firearm sales either. So you need three things: a host whose terms allow a firearms business, a merchant account approved for firearms, and a checkout that ships every gun to a receiving FFL.
WordPress.com doesn’t stop firearms merchants from running the WooCommerce software on another host. That’s what we do: your store runs self-hosted on WP Engine, and you own the site and the data.
More on the payment side: FFL payment processing. The full answer on the software: can you use WooCommerce to sell guns.
What hosting includes on every plan
Every plan is a hosting plan. Minute Man, at $169 a month, includes:
- your custom domain and a custom website design
- unlimited hosting, storage and bandwidth
- unlimited products and orders
- 24×7 uptime monitoring, backed by WP Engine’s 99.95% uptime SLA
Coriolis manages the hosting: security updates, uptime monitoring and support. On Minute Man, support is $125 per incident. Militia ($269 a month) and above include free email support with a 24-hour response. Higher plans add DNS and email administration, VIP support and register integration. See every plan on FFL website plans.
FFL Accelerator: hosting we tune and watch for you
FFL Accelerator ($569 a month) is the all-in-one managed plan. On the hosting side, it adds:
- page speed optimization (EverCache)
- shopping cart optimization (LiveCart)
- advanced site monitoring (Uptime Robot)
- Cloudflare Web Rules for bot mitigation
A webmaster is included. Coriolis is a WP Engine agency partner. See the FFL Accelerator offer.
You own the site, and you can leave with it
When setup is done, you own the WooCommerce site: the files and the database, exportable at any time. Hosting is month to month, there’s no annual contract, and you can cancel any time. If you walk, you take the website.
Every plan runs under our Master Services Agreement.
Moving from a template platform
Keep your domain. We build the new WooCommerce store on it before you give notice, move the catalog you care about, and redirect the pages that already rank. Then we turn on FFL Checkout, payments and tax, buy a mixed cart to make sure it clears, and point the domain. Don’t give notice until the new store is ready.
Leaving a specific platform? Leave AmmoReady · Leave Gearfire. Setup is $500 (Basic Setup) or $2,500 (Retail Setup), and DNS configuration at launch is included in both. Setup and monthly side by side: what an FFL website costs.

Questions we get
- What is gun-friendly hosting?
- Web hosting whose terms allow a firearms business. A gun store needs it, because some hosted platforms, including WordPress.com, prohibit selling firearms, parts, accessories and ammunition.
- Can a gun store use any web host?
- No. Check the host’s terms before you build. WordPress.com prohibits selling firearms on its hosted sites, but it doesn’t stop firearms merchants from running WooCommerce on another host. Coriolis runs every dealer store on WP Engine.
- Where does Coriolis host dealer websites?
- On WP Engine, every one of them. Coriolis is a WP Engine agency partner, and we manage the hosting for you, with security updates, uptime monitoring and support.
- What does FFL website hosting cost?
- Hosting is part of every plan, from $169 to $569 a month. Setup is $500 (Basic Setup) or $2,500 (Retail Setup). There’s no annual contract.
- Is there an uptime SLA?
- Every store runs on WP Engine, so every plan is backed by WP Engine’s 99.95% uptime SLA, with 24×7 uptime monitoring on top.
- Do I own the website?
- Yes. When setup is done, you own the WooCommerce site files and database, exportable at any time. Cancel and the site goes with you.
- Can you move my site without going dark?
- Yes. We build WooCommerce on your domain first, move what ranks, test a live cart, then switch DNS. Don’t give notice until the new store is ready.
- Does hosting cover card payments?
- No. Payments run through a merchant account approved for firearms, connected to checkout through a payment gateway. Coriolis installs the gateway at setup, and the merchant account and its fees are yours.
